Its goal is to make outstanding arts education available to students of all ages, skill levels and socioeconomic backgrounds. From private lessons to summer camps to community outreach programs, Arts+ strives to help each student unlock their full potential through the power of arts education.
Arts+ is proud to have the largest Suzuki program in the Charlotte region, with students from age 3-18. We feature Suzuki instruction on violin, viola, cello and harp. We are an active group of families and young musicians, with opportunities to learn and play all year long. All our instructors are registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
This position will maintain a private lesson studio of Suzuki students at Arts+ as well as teach Suzuki Group Classes and other music programs with Arts+. This position will collaborate closely with the Suzuki Program Artistic Director to grow and shape the Suzuki Program at Arts+ including attending and supporting many Suzuki events and performances. This position has the potential and expectation to grow into a full-time, exempt, and salaried position, with benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Approximately 25 Hours per Week
- Teaching Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach Suzuki private music lessons to students of all ages, levels, and abilities.
- Teach Suzuki group lessons to students of all ages, levels, and abilities.
- Serve as faculty for various Arts+ Summer Camps, such as Discovering Strings Camps and Orchestra Camp.
- Administrative Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in implementation of Suzuki Program events and performances, e.g. graduation nights, outreach performances, and Suzuki Program Recitals.
- Various administrative duties such as participating in staff and faculty meetings, correspondence, phone calls and copying.
- Maintain Active status with the Suzuki Association of the Americas
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Music required, or other comparable experience.
- Suzuki Registration through Book 1, registration in higher books preferred.
- Competency and experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office required.
- Satisfactory Background check.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite required.
- Experience operating in a music environment; basic working knowledge of arts education programs.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage and organize many projects at once.
- Exceptional customer service skills and a friendly, welcoming demeanor for working with parents, students, faculty and community partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility and initiative to work both independently and as part of a team.
