Quala is seeking a skilled Metrology Technician to join our service team that is working with a leading consumer electronics company in Redmond WA. This is an opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art prototyping lab alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers who specialize in iterative prototyping and mechanical testing for next-generation consumer electronic devices. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on projects, programming and operating optical and coordinate measurement machines (OMM and CMM) and learning something new daily. This will be a fast-paced, hands-on, on-site role.
In this role, you will apply a wide variety of tools to assist engineers with failure analysis, development, and production-related tasks. This position offers the opportunity to use a large variety of state-of-the-art dimensional inspection equipment and software to improve product quality. Responsibilities include CMM/OMM programming, equipment maintenance/calibration, and inspection-related consultations.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect critical dimensions on parts and assemblies
  • Routinely calibrate equipment to maintain traceability
  • Analyze measured data in Geomagic Control or similar applications
  • Operate high-accuracy inspection equipment such as CMMs, OMMs, 3D scanners, and/or surface profilometers
  • Communicate with engineers and designers to establish expectations and interpret results
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) per ASME Y14.5

Basic Qualifications:
· Excellent understanding of dimensional metrology concepts
· General knowledge of applicable dimensional inspection standards
· General knowledge of available measurement technologies
· Passion for dimensional metrology, quality, and inspection topics
· Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y14.5-2009 expertise
· Ability to read, interpret, and proofread mechanical drawings
· Proficiency operating CMMs, OMMs, structured light 3D scanners, and/or surface profilometers
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Desired Skills:
· Experience with dimensional analysis software
· Any applicable ASQ certifications such as CCT or CQI
