ABOUT CMFCAA

 

The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association is a not-for-profit agency that educates, supports, and advocates for foster, adoptive, & kinship children, youth, & families in central Missouri by offering services & partnering with community & governmental agencies to develop healthy & self-sufficient individuals & families. 

Founded in 2007 by a former foster youth, foster parents, and adoptive parents, the CMFCAA is a community service organization that provides for the needs of foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship youth and families. What began as a small support group has grown into a multifaceted organization that provides direct support, education, services and advocacy to foster and adoptive families in a 24-county central Missouri region. 

Currently, we are assisting over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, over 400 adopted children in our service area. Our goal is to be a support to the families, children and youth in this area, and we work tirelessly to provide much needed services to them. 


Roles and Responsibilities of Extreme Family Finder:

  • Carry out recruitment strategies and meet outcome requirements as set forth by CMFCAA in conjunction with the Foster Adopt Connect Manual for Replication
  • Follow requirements and policies of agency, contracts, and state regulations
  • Complete home studies as needed in a timely manner, not exceeding deadlines
  • Maintain strong, open communication with Supervisor regarding services delivered, concerns, or questions
  • Maintain strong, open communication with all members of each child’s Family Support Team members
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of client records, contact, visits, and progress in an internal database program, SAM. All documentation should occur as soon as possible, but no later than two days of occurrence/receipt
  • Travel to where children on the caseload reside to remain updated on the children’s progress (homes, residential centers, etc.) monthly or as needed
  • Maintain frequent contact with caseworkers of children placed in resource provider homes and residential facilities to ensure quality of services, and to resolve issues/concerns as they arise
  • Case record reviews: mine files on a regular basis to make certain case tasks are completed within each phase
  • Create genograms and contact lists of all people who are kin, related to, or interested in placement or support of children in each case
  • Create and distribute weekly and monthly action plans for each case
  • Network building (weekly/monthly): attend meetings with Supervisor, caseworker, caseworker’s supervisor, CASA, JO, GAL, residential staff, FSTs, etc.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled internal meetings as assigned, as well as professional development trainings)
  • Become familiar with and utilize CMFCAA departments and services in an effort to provide a concierge approach to supporting families
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred) in social work (preferred) or in related human services field.
    • (Additional qualifying education or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the minimum qualifications)
  • Previous experience working with at-risk populations required. 
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing new ways of creating efficiencies.
    • Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
    • Solid commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for foster and adoptive families.
    • The ability to collaborate and advocate for positive outcomes, using excellent interpersonal skills in multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic professional teams.
    • Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills. Must have ability to quickly establish rapport and build trust.
    • Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented while meeting all deadlines.
