The credit analyst position is responsible for analyzing and monitoring creditworthiness of existing and potential customers. A main aspect of this position is performing underwriting and analysis for prospective or existing commercial borrowers whose exposure is typically in excess of $1,000,000. The credit analyst determines the level of risk and assists the loan officers and Directors' Loan Committee in deciding if a loan or line of credit will be granted. This position's primary duty consists of the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with matters of significance in reference to credit and lending.

Essential Duties:

  1. Assist in the preparation and review of applications presented to Directors' Loan Committee.
  2. Perform annual loan reviews on commercial relationships over $1,000,000.
  3. Prepare packets for Directors' Loan Committee meetings.
  4. Track borrowing base calculations.
  5. Track approved guidance lines of credit.
  6. Work with the Bank's external loan review firm, the OCC examiners, and BKD auditors.
  7. Analyze financial statements and complete ratio, trend, and cash flow analysis of statements to determine if a customer is eligible for financing and determine appropriate risk rating.
  8. Communicate with loan officers and customers to obtain information needed, and to structure loans to minimize risk.
  9. Monitor accounts for loan agreement compliance.
  10. Abide by all of the Bank's policies and procedures.
  11. Review files prior to external audits and exams to ensure all necessary documentation is in file and analyzed.

Work Schedule:

This position requires 40 hours each week with the majority of work being completed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Some evenings are necessary to meet deadlines. Travel is minimal to meet with customers, go to branches, and attend conferences/training.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, with some standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms necessary. Minimal weight is lifted for this position, and clear, close vision with the ability to adjust focus is necessary.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field OR experience equivalency
  2. 3-5 years of experience working in a position similar to that of a credit analyst
  3. Experience with analyzing financial statements and tax returns

Work Environment:

This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
