At Layton Services, we're a commercial, industrial, and residential excavation contractor that has been family-owned and operated in Central Ohio for nearly 30 years. Our services primarily include earthwork, site development (mass excavation, building pads, sub-grade prep), and underground utilities (water main, fire line, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and detention systems.) Located in Newark, Ohio with a majority of work in Columbus, Licking County, and the surrounding area.

Summary of Job Description:

Lay pipes for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and waterlines (main or service). Responsible for installing pipe bedding and seal joints. Responsible to labor and operate (or learn to operate) as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install or repair sanitary, stormwater, domestic water, fire lines, sewer structures, and pipe systems.
• Use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, and transit levels.
• Correctly connect pieces of pipe in unison with the correct cement or glue adhesives.
• Check slopes for compliance with requirements using lasers or levels.
• Use a partner saw or Sawzall to cut pipe to the required lengths while using the correct PPE.
• Reading and understanding plans and cut sheets.
• Maintaining a positive workflow, looking ahead at what pipe or fittings you will need.

Role Qualifications:

• 2+ years of industry-related experience
• Trenching and Excavating Certificate (can obtain once hired)
• 10-hour OSHA Certificate in construction (can obtain once hired)
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to figure out math calculations on the fly.
• Must possess the ability to relate well to others, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
