HDL Engineering Consultants, LLC (HDL) is a leader in providing civil, geotechnical, transportation, and arctic engineering, environmental and earth science, surveying, and construction management services throughout Alaska. We are looking for a motivated and detail oriented Engineering Assistant to join our team.


Position Summary:

This position provides assistance to senior engineering staff with project deliverables for all phases of design, permitting, bidding, and construction. Applicants with a strong interest in water resources are preferred.


Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required
  • Current Engineering-in-Training certificate is preferred
  • Understanding of basic civil engineering design principals
  • Background in water resources and experience performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses is preferred
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D design tools
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and clearly communicate with others through verbal and written communication.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist senior engineers with the preparation of project reports, development of plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Apply knowledge of civil engineering and drainage design principals.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses in urban and rural environments
  • Ability to operate office machines and equipment.
  • May require outdoor work and/or travel to both urban and remote Alaska locations, possibly under adverse conditions for short periods of time.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
