Job DescriptionJob DescriptionObjectiveThe Early Drug Development Department is seeking a Research Assistant/Associate (RA) to support the development and evaluation of novel radiopharmaceuticals for clinical translation. The RA will conduct in vitro and in vivo preclinical experiments, maintain laboratory regulatory requirements, and, as their skills develop, independently perform advanced preclinical assays to evaluate various aspects of radiopharmaceuticals using cellular and mouse models. Demonstrating enthusiasm for developing new therapeutic and diagnostic agents, the RA will keep detailed documentation, collaborate closely with team members, and show a commitment to advancing cancer therapy through robust preclinical data and continuous learning.Essential Functions
  • Conduct basic research tasks (e.g. perform experiments, collect, document and summarize experimental data).
  • Maintain logs, lab notebooks, and other documentation with diligence and recognizes that data integrity is of upmost importance through all aspects of the process from the discovery stage of development through commercialization of products.
  • Assist with routine lab organization, general maintenance, and upkeeping, including preparation of buffers and media, autoclaving, and dishwashing, etc.
  • Communicate with the RS, for good quality control of experiment procedure and is willing to learn new techniques as needed.
  • Support and promote safety as the most important part of all experimental design, in carrying out experiments throughout the process of radiopharmaceutical development using internal or external resources.
  • Keep good communication with teammates and report to PRS/RS. 
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of working experience in research lab.
  • 6-12 months experience with handling rodents including animal handling, tail vein injection, blood sampling and rodent and tissue dissection.
  • Well trained in radiopharmaceutical evaluation procedure by conducting in vivo experiments such as pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, pharmacodynamics and toxicology studies of radiopharmaceuticals, etc.
  • Experience and expertise in conducting in vitro and in vivo experiments, maintaining rigorous laboratory standards, and ensuring accurate and thorough documentation.
  • Excellent experiences in animal husbandry and skills in working with animals including but not limited to drug administration, blood and sample collection, tissue dissection, tumor model establishment, mouse sample histopathological assessment, etc.
  • Experience with biochemical or molecular/cellular biology techniques, such as cell-based assays, enzymatic assays, ELISA, RNA extraction, PCR, Western blot, etc.
  • Experience with cell culture.
  • Willing to work with radioisotopes.
  • Experience in cancer-related field highly preferred.
Knowledge / Skill / Ability
  • Good communication skills with external resources such as UI core facilities and keep diligent records of data storage and transfer and integrity.
  • Ability to be adept and skilled in appropriate methodologies in data collection, consolidation and presentation for stakeholders and management and understands how to tailor presentations to the audience (e.g., management, colleagues, clinicians, non-scientists, investors, etc.).
  • Highly skilled professional who understands preclinical experiments in cancer therapy and upholds this profession with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Full range of motion and ability to use both hands mandated by machinery. High degree of manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to regularly lift 10 lb. weights, occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain focus on a complex task for 4-6 hours at a time.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction, and drive deliverables through to completion by deadlines provided.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and commitment to high quality work.
  • Comfort with various computer operating systems and laboratory operational platforms (i.e., GraphPad, Excel, following SOPs, data analysis).
  • Ability to work within a corporate culture in which enthusiasm, respect, integrity, and teamwork are expected to be the highest of standards.
  • Ability to maintain trackable record of each experiment for high-quality data.
  • Ability to summarize presentable data using software and other tools.
