Job Summary: The ER Tech provides essential support to the emergency medical team by performing clinical and administrative tasks. This role involves assisting with patient care, maintaining equipment, and ensuring smooth operations within the emergency department during the day shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Assist with patient assessments, including taking vital signs, performing basic medical procedures (e.g., EKGs, blood draws), and preparing patients for examination and treatment.

  • Support to Medical Staff: Provide support to doctors and nurses by preparing and sterilizing equipment, assisting in procedures, and ensuring that the emergency room is stocked with necessary supplies.

  • Documentation: Accurately document patient information, treatments, and observations in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts as required.

  • Safety and Cleanliness: Ensure that the ER environment is clean, organized, and compliant with infection control protocols. Regularly sanitize equipment and work areas.

  • Communication: Act as a liaison between patients, families, and medical staff, providing updates and addressing concerns as appropriate. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure coordinated care.

  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative duties such as patient intake, processing orders, and managing inventory of medical supplies.

  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations promptly and assist in code blue scenarios as directed by medical staff.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or emergency medical technician (EMT) program preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience in an emergency room or healthcare setting is advantageous.

  • Skills:

    • Basic life support (BLS) certification required; advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certification preferred.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergency situations effectively.
    • Proficiency with medical equipment and electronic health records.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move patients, and perform physical tasks related to patient care and emergency response.
