Position Summary

The Controls Electrical Manager is responsible for performing electrical, instrumentation, and control wiring and installations at the sawmill. The Incumbent will have knowledge of installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining power distribution systems and controls, and while performing electrical work ranging from simple to complex.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and assess electrical and mechanical requirements, conducting equipment surveys and schematics for accuracy
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems
  • Perform general electrical maintenance and read technical diagrams and blueprints
  • Inspect, diagnose and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or fixtures
  • Inspect and perform corrective maintenance on circuit breakers and transformers
  • Follow national electrical code, and state and local building regulations
  • Track repairs and work completed in trade software
  • Conduct inspections and tests on electrical systems
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment
  • Engage with customers to inform them of issue, solution, and outcome; recommend products and services for optimal system performance
  • Other duties as assigned

Education / Experience / Certification

  • 5+ Years’ experience in Electrical/Equipment Maintenance
  • Individual must have a strong technical aptitude and possess direct industrial maintenance experience - preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • PLC troubleshooting & programming experience
  • Practical knowledge and application of basic safety practices and use of power tools
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills required
  • Basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Understand industrial automation and controls
  • Ability to work independently and in groups
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced team environment, and work within deadlines
  • Experience in Sawmill industry is a plus

Work Environment Manufacturing Plant Physical Demands

  • The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise levels are moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Lifting and physical activity is required for this position, must be able to move boards and wood pieces. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds.
