Job Description: Financial Reporting Manager

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Reporting Manager to join our finance team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage complex financial data and disclosures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting Oversight:

    • Manage the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and statement of equity.
    • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and regulatory guidelines.
    • Coordinate and oversee month-end and year-end close processes to meet reporting deadlines.
  2. Technical Accounting Expertise:

    • Research and interpret accounting standards, pronouncements, and regulatory requirements to ensure proper application and compliance.
    • Advise on complex accounting issues, transactions, and financial reporting matters, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial instrument accounting.
    • Prepare technical accounting memos and documentation to support accounting treatments and disclosures.
  3. Financial Analysis and Insights:

    • Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and performance metrics to interpret financial results and trends.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and reporting.
    • Prepare management reports and presentations summarizing financial performance and key metrics.
  4. Internal Controls and Compliance:

    • Develop and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy, integrity, and security of financial data and reporting.
    • Coordinate external audits and reviews by independent auditors, ensuring audit readiness and compliance with audit requirements.
    • Implement improvements to internal controls and processes to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.
  5. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead and mentor a team of financial reporting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment focused on achieving departmental goals and objectives.
    • Support career development and skills enhancement of team members through coaching, training programs, and professional development opportunities.

Compensation: Compensation for a Financial Reporting Manager typically includes a base salary ranging from $90,000 to $130,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and the size of the organization. Additional compensation may include performance-based bonuses, health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.

Skills Required:

  • Financial Reporting: Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Technical Accounting: Expertise in researching and applying technical accounting standards and interpretations.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, interpret trends, and generate meaningful insights.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate financial information and analysis to stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop a team of finance professionals.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address complex accounting and reporting issues.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree or CPA designation is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or audit roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in public accounting or within a publicly traded company is advantageous.
