Responsibilities include working with on Supplier best practices, Supplier Performance Management (SPM) framework- including Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Service Level Agreements (SLA). Support all purchasing analysis with day to day operations. Manage specific suppliers/categories to reduce costs, manage risk and drive continuous improvements. Contribute & support the contract decisions/selections of the Purchasing Director (PD).

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate objectives, scope and strategies to suppliers as it relates to SPM
  • Support the PD in developing, implementing, and monitoring supplier scorecards.
  • Key stake holder in the success of trace gains system for supplier performance content.
  • For designated categories: monitor, analyze and report on trends, in accordance with contract terms and best practices.
  • Make recommendations for improvements, ie: better contract terms, etc.; present analysis and recommendations to PD.
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts.
  • Maintain relevant ingredient and packaging knowledge. Facilitate and lead supplier performance meetings/reviews.
  • Maintain relevant co-packer knowledge, who does what, especially with our selected suppliers and their competition.
  • Develop supplier relationships to quickly resolve issues, create and execute the category strategy, and ensure supplier alignment with the direction of the business.
  • Participate in SKU rationalization for all co-packer finished goods, Film, Labels, Packaging, Glue, Shrink Wrap, pallets etc.
  • Provide Master Data support for new items, by populating AX/D365 with key data and working with finance to have it costed and activated.
  • Document Cost Savings/Risk Mitigation and other improvements.
  • Collaborate with sales, finance, marketing, and operations teams to manage inventory position and load scheduling.
  • Balances price, delivery, service, and value tradeoffs and rationalizes the supply base for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Create purchase orders.
  • Manage inventory levels for these items.
  • Aids related departments when applicable (buyers, supplier invoice discrepancies with accounting, non-conforming material, supplier root cause and corrective actions with quality).
  • Interact with suppliers to manage portfolio including forecast, ordering, and expediting of material.
  • Review current work practices and look for opportunities to streamline and more effectively manage process.
  • Help to develop innovative solutions, approaches, methodologies that address present and future supply chain requirements.
  • Manage product life cycle for seasonal & product of the month items.
  • Provides reports and analytical data to marketing, sales and PD.
  • Participate in process improvement projects as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training.
  • Adhere to Reily Purchasing Policies and Procedures and communicate/reinforce with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respect.
  • Participates and practices BRC rules and regulations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5 to 8+ years of experience with forecasting, replenishment, purchasing and extensive experience working with suppliers at all levels.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business related field preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize data for presentation.
  • Experience analyzing markets, best practices, etc.
  • Self-starter who takes the initiative to explore opportunities and problem solve.
