Job DescriptionThe Maintenance Mechanic will perform regular routine maintenance such as inspections and services on all facility machines and equipment. Thoroughly clean machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling when necessary. The Maintenance Mechanic will apply preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of potential problems and fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
Accountabilities
- Requires on-call duty rotating weekly basis, twenty-four hours per day
- Quality of work; strives for accuracy, thoroughness, and adjusts to changes in work assignments/ conditions
- Productivity; delivers a full day’s work and adheres to break/lunch periods, and meets deadlines
- Job knowledge; knowledgeable in all facets of job and willingness to learn new skills/ techniques
- Initiative; motivated to work with little supervision, suggests improvements, and demonstrates desire to get the job done
- Safety; adheres to safety policies and follows Company housekeeping practices
- Attendance/ Dependability; works required hours with minimum of absences, arrives on time and remains until end of shift, and notifies supervisor promptly of tardiness, absence, need to leave early
- Communication; keeps supervisor apprised of problems/concerns and asks questions when necessary
- Cooperation; works harmoniously with supervision, employees, visitors and accepts constructive criticism
Essential Functions Performed by the Position
- Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action
- Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality
- Test equipment to check reliable, safe operations
- Verifies equipment operation after repairs, changeovers, or extended downtime
- Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action
- Examines defects and analyzes spoilage causes and, where possible, takes corrective action
- Notifies maintenance department supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality/ safety problems or supplies needed
- Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned
- May do paint and other types of upgrade work
- May work on building, grounds, office maintenance, roof repair, plumbing, etc
- New office/plant equipment installation/ commissioning
- Completion of any other assigned duties
- Set up, adjust, and maintain assigned production equipment and machine tools
- Maintain the quality of the company’s production equipment including hydraulics, pneumatics, pipe fitting, and basic electrical equipment
- Diagnose malfunctions in production machinery and equipment
- Repair and maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications
- Set up and operate metalworking machinery and tools, such as lathe, drill press, and grinder to make and repair parts
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
- Ability to adhere to Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety policies

- Ability to care, maintain, and safely operate equipment

Education and/or Experience:
Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Environment and Working Conditions
- Exposure to loud noises
- Long periods of standing
- Working with sharp and machinery tools
Travel Requirements (percent)
- Less than 10%
