As a Dining Room Supervisor at Regency Senior Communities, you will oversee and manage meal service operations in our dining areas, ensuring exceptional service for residents, guests, and special functions. You will lead a dedicated team of wait staff, scheduling, training, and supervising to maintain high standards of service and hospitality. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to enriching the dining experience for our residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage meal service in dining areas, including set-up, service, and clean-up for residents, guests, and special functions.
  • Schedule, assign, train, and manage wait staff to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times.
  • Supervise meal service to ensure efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
  • Conduct frequent inspections of work, storage, and serving areas to maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Recommend and initiate changes in service techniques or procedures as needed.
  • Coordinate set-up and clean-up of catered functions, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Address resident dining concerns promptly and facilitate effective communication.
  • Maintain records of work assignments, menu selections, and catering costs.
  • Conduct and participate in departmental meetings, in-services, training sessions, and community events.
  • Instruct employees on equipment use and sanitation methods.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and work areas for sanitation, safety, and maintenance.
  • Interview, evaluate performance, and manage disciplinary actions for staff members.
  • Assist with dining services as needed, including implementing cost containment procedures and serving as wait staff.
  • Fill in for the Director of Food Services during absences.
  • Acknowledge and support resident rights, maintaining confidentiality of residents and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Attend committee meetings, trainings, in-services, and community events as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a restaurant or institutional dining setting, with supervisory experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the food service industry through practical experience.
  • Ability to read and understand written or verbal instructions in English.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • High energy level, well-organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Professionalism in all communications and actions.
  • Willingness to work additional shifts as required.
  • Must pass required pre-employment tests and screenings.
  • Prior experience working with the geriatric population preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, tact, maturity, flexibility, and the ability to work well with diverse personalities.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and enforce high standards.
  • Supervisory skills with the ability to delegate effectively and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
