Senior Coating Engineer

Salvo Technologies is currently looking to hire a full-time Senior Optical Coating Engineer to support our fast-paced and diverse coating department. Salvo Technologies coating department specializes in a broad range of PVD coatings employing technologies that include magnetron sputtering, ion beam sputtering, IAD and non IAD. Wavelength regions include UV, Visible, SWIR and NIR. Salvo Technologies customers include lithography applications, aerospace contractors, government agencies, medical industries

Responsibilities:

• Hands on engineering activities working directly with other coating engineers as well as technicians and maintenance support personnel.

• Interact with senior management and participate in customer communications.

• Review customer optical performance requests and provide manufacturable coating design solutions.

• Design and optimize a wide range of PVD coatings to support both internal and external customers. Follow through from initial development to yield a robust production process.

• Support existing engineering activities and coating PVD processes.

• Work with team to optimize workflow to maximize chamber utilization

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering.

• Minimum 5 years professional experience as optical coating engineer.

• Broad coating design experience to include beamsplitters, bandpass, broadband AR

• Expertise with coating design software that includes one or more: Macleod, TFCalc, FTG Filmstar

• Proficiency in optical thin film deposition, high vacuum technology, optical measurements, thin film monitoring techniques and process controls

• In depth experience with various deposition technologies such as magnetron sputtering, Ion beam sputtering, IAD, EB and resistance sources.

• Expertise in performing spectral measurements on various spectrophotometers as well as ellipsometry measurements.

• In depth overall knowledge and experience with optical processing related to coating including handling, surface preparation, and final qualifications to meet customers’ requirements.

• Experience in troubleshooting and developing robust corrective actions.

• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

• Interact with technicians and supervisors to provide clear and detailed technical oversight.
