The Job

The Anderson School, our oldest program, located in Andover, MA is looking for a full time Special Education Teacher. This position is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum and IEPs, maintaining all necessary records/documentation, and overseeing all aspects of classroom functioning including supervising a teaching assistant. This is a great opportunity to work with a team of experienced, caring, dedicated (and just plain nice) educators with a passion for working with children with special needs. School hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree with major in Special Education.
  • Valid and current Massachusetts DESE Licensure (Pre-K-8) in moderate and/or severe disabilities.
  • Experience preferably with students who have a wide range of multiple disabilities.
  • Minimum 2-5 years working with children ages 3 – 12 in a Special Ed environment.
  • Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use technology effectively.
  • Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues.
  • Suitable background check.
  • Mostly active - must be able to sit, bend, kneel and lift 25 pounds.
