Primary Skills:

  • DataStage Development: Extensive experience in IBM DataStage for ETL processes. Ability to design, develop, and maintain DataStage jobs for extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources.
  • ETL Process Management: Strong understanding of ETL concepts and best practices, including data profiling, cleansing, and integration.
  • Database Knowledge: Proficiency in working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2. Ability to write complex SQL queries and optimize database performance.
  • Data Warehousing: Experience in data warehousing concepts and architectures. Understanding of star and snowflake schemas.
  • Scripting Languages: Knowledge of scripting languages like UNIX shell scripting or Python for automation and job control.

Secondary Skills:

  • Mainframe Experience: Familiarity with mainframe systems, preferably with some hands-on experience. Knowledge of COBOL, JCL, and mainframe database systems like DB2 is a plus.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile development environments. Ability to participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve data issues.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain DataStage ETL jobs to support data integration and transformation requirements.
  • Perform data profiling, cleansing, and validation to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and design ETL solutions.
  • Optimize ETL processes for performance and scalability.
  • Provide support for production data loads and troubleshoot data issues as needed.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Document ETL processes, data flows, and technical specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a DataStage Developer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of ETL and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience with mainframe systems and COBOL is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
