Title/Position: Traffic/Foreign Judgment Clerk       

 

FLSA Status: Non-exempt


Department:  Clerk                                                  


Supervisor:    Clerk                                                   


Hours Work: 8:00am to 4:00pm                             

Monday thru Friday


Purpose of Position: Processes Traffic Tickets paper and electronically, enters civil and criminal mail payments, assess criminal fees, fines, costs in computer. Notifies BMV electronically. Process Foreign judgments in computer and enters in Foreign judgment book. Enters Juvenile and Criminal fines, costs, fees, restitutions and judgments in computer system and judgment book.  Enters Pre-Trial Diversion fees in computer.


Essential Duties: (include but not limited to)

  • Enters information into Incite system (BMV)
  • Enters all mail in civil and criminal payments in computer system.
  • Assess all fines, cost, restitution and fees on Criminal and Juvenile cases.
  • Balances desk and traffic till in computer with all payments received daily.
  • Receives phone calls and visitors, answers question’s or refers to the appropriate person or department.
  • Enters judgments and restitution in the computer system on criminal and Juvenile cases.
  • Enters payments at the counter when public comes in to pay.
  •  Enters all Criminal RJO orders into the computer regarding costs, fees, fines, restitution and probation.
  • Processes foreign judgments in computer and takes in payments for judgments.
  • Notifies BMV with orders by scanning and emailing.
  • Enters all traffic and ordinance violations into computer and makes file jackets.
  • Make all transactions pertaining to traffic payments and paperwork to BMV and court.
  • Send all non-paid traffic tickets to collection vendor at first of year.
  • Keep track of all unpaid and paid tickets/ordinance violations.
  • Send old tickets/ordinance violation to microfilm as needed to be destroyed.
  • Notifies on all traffic tickets.
  • Hand writes receipts after 2:30 p.m. daily for all payments made at the counter.
  • Enter payments made after 2:30 from day before from receipt book in computer.
  •  Assess and applies funds for Pre-Trial Diversion Agreements in computer, then sends paperwork to Prosecutor to e-file with receipt.
  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work basic math problems
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing
  • Basic knowledge of general office practices, such as filing, record keeping, phone etiquette, etc.
  • Attention to detail
  • Helps others with their work when they are out of the office.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Assists opening safe/closing and putting money in and out of safe.
  • Assists bringing up and closing counter computers

 

Education & Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

Back ground check and meet all requirements


Responsibility:

Incumbent works under established guidelines and procedures.  Tasks are fairly routine but, require some selection of applicable methods and procedures.  Errors can cause Excessive risk and cost repercussions.

Errors in work can cause significant inconvenience to the public or significant loss of time to the courts.


Working Relationships:

Working relationships are with supervisor, associates in same department, other county departments, courts and the general public for the purpose of communicating factual or procedural information.


Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a standard office environment.
