Job purpose

Provides engineering support through a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience, receiving academic credit for the job experience.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Interface with manufacturing to solve problems relating to processes, fixtures and materials.
  • Review proposed new equipment for use in manufacturing.
  • Provide input to design fixtures and or tools for use in manufacturing.
  • Write and maintain manufacturing and or engineering process sheets as needed.
  • Assemble prototypes as needed.
  • Engineering Intern will generally be provided with a key project to complete during their internship. Other miscellaneous tasks will also be required. The Engineering Intern will be expected to fulfill the same role an engineer would be expected to fill, but with more guidance and support as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Requires enrollment for a BS degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or other related engineering discipline.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing engineering position will be positive but not required.
  • Person should have experience in the use of computer software that applies to this type of work.
  • Other work experience that exposed the candidate to the manufacturing type environment would be helpful.

Working conditions

  • May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used.
  • Periodic lifting < 40 lbs
  • Plant wide climate control and air conditioning
  • Could work in areas with excessive noise. NOTE: Ear protection available.

Physical requirements

  • Could require intermittent and long periods of sitting and/or standing.
  • Required to do repetitive work.
  • Periodic lifting of materials not to exceed 50 pounds.
