Job Description

AZZ has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Tax at our Fort Worth Texas corporate office. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer you are responsible for directing the global tax function while developing and implementing global tax initiatives. You will provide direction and coaching of the tax function at the corporate level and lead all aspects of the global tax team activities including staffing, scheduling, coordinating, reporting, and planning. The Director of Tax collaborates with executive management of the Company, as well as outside tax advisors, to identify, develop, recommend, and implement strategic tax planning initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads initiatives throughout the organization to minimize the Company's global tax rate through appropriate tax planning strategies.
  • Maintains an interactive dialog with senior management and can translate complex tax issues and articulate opportunities to all business leaders.
  • Identifies and implements appropriate tax planning opportunities both domestically and internationally.
  • Oversees Federal, State, and international tax audits.
  • Evaluates and advises on tax efficient structuring of domestic and international transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, and new ventures.
  • Ensures compliance with all Federal, Foreign, State, and Local tax regulation while working to minimize tax liability and maximize after tax earnings.
  • Determines the use of outside tax service providers to minimize cost and maximize value added.
  • Ensures appropriate accounting for taxes, including tax footnotes for annual and quarterly reports.
  • Directs all tax compliance and planning efforts.
Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or related field required.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, especially Oracle (EPBCS, FCCS, Service Management, Strategic Modeling, Financials), and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience in Public financial organizations and corporate taxation preferred; Previous accounting experience in manufacturing or service industry preferred.
  • Must have supervisory experience in related tax role.
  • Must be able to travel internationally.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance or related field is preferred.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred, or CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or other relevant certification a plus.
