This is a new role created due to growth.


The commercial credit analyst will review documentation for Commercial Loan applications and perform thorough analysis of financial and credit information to determine viability of request within the parameters of established policies and procedures and applicable regulatory guidance; analyzes balance sheets, personal financial statements, tax returns, income statements, cash flow statements, and other information using trend, ratio, leverage, projection, and stress techniques to determine adequacy of repayment sources; reviews appropriate documents to determine viability of proposed collateral, including appraisals and other evaluations, leases, title reports; takes the lead with the analysis of large and/or complex credits.


The diligent execution of this position is expected to contribute to the accomplishment of the department’s short and long-term goals.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for upholding and adhering to Credit Union of Georgia brand standards including following all of the steps of our unique member journEASE experience and to Engage, Ask, Solve and Excite and deliver top level member service every time.
  • Performs thorough analysis of all credit, financial, and cash flow information to determine viability of repayment for commercial loan requests. Assesses and determines repayment ability of all borrowers and guarantors, and from a global perspective through in-depth analysis of tax returns and financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, direct and indirect cash flow statements, using trend, cash flow, ratio, leverage, and projection analysis, which includes stress testing cash flow using various criteria such as changes in interest rate and vacancy.
  • Assembles and organizes pertinent information to assist lenders in completing Credit Presentations. Credit Presentations should contain all information necessary for Analysts to make an informed recommendation, including Borrowing Cause, Borrower structure and background, all repayments sources, financial statement analysis, collateral analysis, identification of all repayment sources (primary, secondary, and tertiary) analysis of risks to repayment, mitigating factors, recommendation for loan structure, pricing, repayment terms, loan risk grade, and covenant / annual review requirements.
  • Reviews and analyzes other legal documents such as wills, trusts, corporation articles and by-laws, partnership agreements, and other information as necessary to fully analyze the loan.
  • Gathers all relevant credit and financial information from borrowers on an ongoing basis as required by policy or on an as-needed basis. Monitors insurance on collateral to clear exceptions on expired policies.
  • Reviews documentation to determine viability and adequacy of collateral including methods of valuation such as conforming appraisal reports, environmental studies, title reports, UCC searches, leases, and industry and market data, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate methodologies.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge and understanding of Loan Policy and related Procedures and appropriate regulatory guidance.
  • Performs Annual Reviews and Criticized Asset Reports of existing loans in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes Borrower and Guarantor character and creditworthiness utilizing information from various sources, including personal and business credit reports, legal forums, publications, and internet sources.
  • Reviews loan documents for accuracy and appropriateness prior to closing and subsequent to signing as required.
  • Assists lenders with formulation and/or implementation of policies and procedures as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
  • Two to five years of similar or related experience with a bank or credit union, including time spent in preparatory positions.
  • In lieu of experience, a relevant college degree will be considered.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
