SUMMARY

The Prep Cook assists in the preparation food offerings in the kitchen and prepares food to order.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES

  • Roles models Prairie Flower Casino’s Mission and Values at all times.
  • Follows the prep list created but F&B Manager.
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves to be organized and easily accessible.
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking.
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
  • Prepares simple dishes such as salads, sandwiches, and nachos.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
  • Receives inventory, moves, and lifts food and beverage products and supplies.
  • Ensures proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labeling, dating, stocking, storing. rotating and checking temperature of products.
  • Assists with front counter as needed while providing excellent guest service.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain appropriate Food Handling Certificate.
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Outstanding example of and a credit to Prairie Flower Casino.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Must demonstrate the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly and outgoing manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Food and Beverage prep cook and/or line cook experience preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

  • Requires the ability to lift/push objects weighing over 40 lbs.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk for the entire shift. Uses hands grasp, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, and crouch.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, increasing to loud when on the casino floor.
  • Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.
  • May be exposed to a smoking environment.
