Position Summary:

Responsible for managing the execution of the design strategy by adapting and deploying the Design Standards for the brand. Responsible for developing multiple areas of expert knowledge in architecture, engineering, and interior design guidelines and protocols according to state and local jurisdictional mandates, company standards and best practices.

Accountabilities/Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Real Estate team and the outsourced architects and consultants responsible for producing construction documents for bakery development for new, existing and franchised locations.
  • Ensure that the construction documents are consistent with company’s design objectives and architectural and quality standards while communicating and executing the Company's brand image.
  • Provide creative direction to the architects in case of custom or unique site conditions.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop unique design solutions to problems in space planning, construction details, material selection and branded storefronts.
  • Subject Matter Expert in the stated discipline supporting current technical needs and requirements to the overall development program assuring best in class design.
  • Communicate design solutions in company specified presentation formats utilizing industry standard design tools such as AutoCad, Sketch Up, Photoshop and Bluebeam.
  • Reports on progress and uses analytics, lessons learned, and best practices from prior projects to re-inject learnings into Design Standards.

Planning and Execution:
Developing plans for the design execution of assigned projects, managing execution, and measuring results:

  • Oversees the design process to ensure that designs meet company, jurisdictional and landlord design criteria, and that construction documents comply with internal quality standards, building codes and health and safety regulations.
  • Communicates efficiently with the broader project team on progress, issues and resolutions.
  • Tracks architectural design changes and modifications for impact on the bakery development budget.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of experience in Architectural Design, Interior Design or Design Project Management.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing and working with construction plans and specifications for multi-unit tenant finish out.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing and working with architectural/site plan design, quality control, material/equipment installation.
  • Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam required. Use knowledge in SketchUp and Photoshop a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in branded design or multi-unit retail industry.
  • Experience on both corporate owner and/or franchisor.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization and industry professionals.
