POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Senior Accountant; Supply Chain will be responsible for accounting procedures and policies related to the company’s full inventory cycle, including supply chain logistics, cost of goods sold, and related accounts payable. This individual will have responsibility for initiating and tracking payments to inventory vendors. They will be the accounting subject matter expert on Solve’s inventory procurement and payment processes, logistics including accounting for freight and customs, inventory control procedures, cost variance accounting, and inventory valuation including FIFO method of costing and valuation reserves. Maintaining accurate accounting and reporting over inventory balances is vital to sustaining Solve’s competitive advantage in the industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in month-end reconciliations of the various inventory-related general ledger balance sheet accounts, including inventory, in-transit inventory, prepaid inventory balances, accounts payable and related clearing accounts; recording journal entries, analyzing results, identifying anomalies, and resolving issues accordingly
  • Monitor inventory related transactions from purchase order processing through sale of goods; identify, investigate and resolve issues in the processing of transactions; maintain reporting of transactions through lifecycle of the inventory, and reserves for obsolete and slow-moving inventories
  • Maintain appropriate tracking of inventory related vendor invoices including payment terms; initiating payments, vouching related invoices into the ERP system in a timely manner, while maintaining positive working relationships with vendors
  • Be a subject matter expert on the flow of inventory transactions and cost components including freight and customs costs and the application of FIFO inventory costing method, through maintenance of inventory verification procedures across warehouse locations
  • Partner cross-functionally across the organization (broader finance team, operations, sales, IT, etc.) to investigate and resolve issues, implement best practices, and perform other ad hoc projects to improve performance of the business
  • Identify opportunities for improvement through leveraging technology to streamline the accounting and related financial close and forecasting processes; maintaining compliance with established internal controls over transactions and reporting
  • Participate in the integration (processes and/or systems) of acquired businesses
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Business, Accounting, or Finance)
  • 3+ years accounting experience
  • Accounts payable experience
  • Excellent communication, problem solving & trouble-shooting skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CPA
  • Experience working with Epicor
  • Experience working in manufacturing and assembly environments with multiple warehouse locations
  • Experience working in a private equity backed company, and/or in a mergers and acquisitions environment
