JOB DESCRIPTION: Graphic Design Internship

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

LOCATION: Primarily stationed at Lake Terrace Convention Center; but work requires travel to all Hattiesburg Convention Commission (HCC) facilities. These include the Saenger Theater, African American Military History Museum, Eureka School Museum, and the Hattiesburg Zoo.

SHIFT: Part-time: Generally Monday – Friday, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required. Maximum of 29 hours per week.

REPORTS TO: Creative & Social Media Supervisor

SUMMARY: Work on a variety of products and activities, such as websites, advertising, print publications, magazines, posters, exhibitions and displays, and various other mediums-creating a visual brand for the Hattiesburg Convention Commission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meeting with the Director of Marketing to discuss the marketing objectives and goals on a project-to-project basis
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts
  • Presenting finalized ideas to supervisor and/or other facility managers
  • Proofreading for accuracy in finalized work
  • Demonstrating ideas through sketch or layout
  • Working with photography and vector illustration
  • Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, social media specialists, public relations coordinator, other designers, web designers, etc.
  • Performs other duties, functions and special projects as assigned by the director. Run errands when needed; travel may be required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Work Experience

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, graphic art, advertising or a similar discipline

Essential Job Qualifications

  • Must retain a valid Driver’s License and meet the eligibility requirements to drive while conducting company business.
  • Must have transportation for required travel.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
