We are seeking a Maintenance Mech to join our team at our facility located in Dalton, GA, 30721. The ideal candidate will have experience with conveyor systems, PLC troubleshooting skills, electrical troubleshooting skills, hydraulics experience, and troubleshooting industrial automation equipment in a manufacturing environment.
2nd Shift - 3:00pm-1:30am M-TH
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Manager: (1) performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on facilities, infrastructure, utility systems, equipment and storage tanks; (2) ensures equipment, facilities and procedures comply with local, state and federal regulations and laws; (3) assists in plant and process engineering; (4) installs new equipment, systems, processes and related modifications into the plant; (5) performs carpentry, plumbing, welding, fabrication, chemical delivery system repair and limited electrical repair; (6) performs limited lift truck servicing, troubleshooting and repair; (7) accurately documents all maintenance actions; (8) maintains a clean working environment by following all housekeeping policies and standards; (9) maintains a safe working environment by following all rules, regulations and policies.
I. Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesA. MaintenanceScheduled Maintenance1. Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on facilities, utility systems, equipment, chemical delivery systems and storage tanks.
- Perform routine tests and adjustments on production equipment to ensure proper operation while minimizing unscheduled breakdowns and casualties.
Unscheduled Maintenance1. Troubleshoot and diagnose problematic equipment by analyzing operation, parameters, symptoms, results, and trends.
- Perform repairs and adjustments on equipment, tools, machines, and utility systems.
Assist in engineering plans for new equipment, process installations, and modifications.
Install new equipment, systems, and processes into the plant.
Determine maximum, minimum, and reordering levels for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance materials.
Perform carpentry required for facility construction and repairs.
Perform plumbing, limited electrical system troubleshooting and repair, welding, parts manufacture, fabrication, and pump maintenance.
Investigate, recommend, and implement improvements in manufacturing processes, waste management and safety.
Maintain equipment and facilities in compliance with all laws, state, and federal laws.
Perform limited servicing, troubleshooting, inspections, and repairs on forklifts.
Report personnel and equipment problems to the Maintenance Supervisor, or in their absence the Plant Manager.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas, facility, and equipment by following routine housekeeping standards.
- Ensure floor is kept free and clear of debris, chemicals, and adhesive at all times.
- Organize and control spare parts storage shelves, bins, and cabinets.
- Properly store or dispose of rags.
- Clean tools after use and return them to their proper storage area.
- Clean up any spillage from plumbing repairs.
- Properly fill waste containers, marks accordingly and place in designated storage area.
- Ensure hose and plumbing fittings are plugged or capped when not in use.
- Sweep and mop work areas as needed and at the end of each shift. Ensure mop heads and buckets are rinsed and returned to the proper storage area after each use. Ensure cleaning equipment is returned to assigned area after each use.
- Maintain a safe working environment by following the W. F. Taylor “Safety Rules and Guidelines” and the “Code of Safe Practices” as defined in the “Employee Safety Handbook”, and by Company policy.
- Maintain respirator certification through required physicals and fit tests.
- Ensure a properly authorized Welding Permit is issued prior to any welding operations.
- Recommend plant equipment improvements or deficiencies
- Contribute to team effort, i.e., assisting in any area required, etc.
- Participate in safety, loss control, accident, incident, and rework investigations, as assigned.
- Education/Experience
- High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- Experience in construction, plumbing, pipe fitting, welding, chemical delivery systems, pumps, batch processing equipment, industrial electrical systems, process controls, and/or computer equipment
- Current forklift certification training
- Valid state driver’s license, with a good driving record

- Physical Conditions
1. Work performed is very physical in nature
- Routine bending, stooping, reaching and stair climbing
- Lifting and carrying materials and supplies, typically weighting 50 pounds or more
- Manual dexterity is required to operate tools, machinery, forklifts, and controls
- 1. Special safety requirements may apply when working in a plant environment or outdoors
- May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials
- May work in temperature and weather extremes
