We are seeking a Financial Aid Advisor (FAA). The FAA primary assignment is to support the Financial Aid Director and the students at Pillar College by reviewing financial data, applying various financial aid awards (state, federal, institutional, veterans etc.), and advising students about financial decisions.

The FAA is to support the Student Service Center (SSC) with students’ questions. The FAA also advises students about resolving problems with verifications and other issues.

Requirements:

The FAA function, but not limited to:

  • Responds to queries and advises on rates and charges for tuition, fees and other items at Pillar College
  • Provides information on Pillar College grants and scholarships as well as other available bursaries, scholarships and grants
  • Meets with applicants, as needed, gathers pertinent Financial Aid information from the applicant (e.g. ISIR information), review a financial estimate and/or an Award Letter for the applicant when needed
  • Assists with proof-reading or translating documents so as to convey the intended meaning to students
  • Liaises, supports, and fosters cooperative working relationships with the Admissions Department, Student Accounts, Students Service Center and other Departments at Pillar College
  • Gains and maintains familiarity with various government web sites and online tools including but not limited to: COD, NSLDS, HESAA, student loans etc.
  • Assumes other authorized tasks and duties as requested by an official personnel of Pillar College and the Director of the Financial Aid Department

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Financial Aid experience
  • Computer skills on MS Office, including Word, Excel
  • Experience with CampusVue preferred
  • Previous experience with college programs helpful
  • Familiarity with government websites
  • Spanish/English fluency required

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree

  • Ability to follow and manage projects from start to finish
  • Strong ability to multi-task and set priorities in a team environment

  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality regarding matters of the Office

HOURS:

  • Full-time, 40 +/- hours per week, schedule flexible
