Overview:

The Parts Room Specialist is responsible for the efficient management of the parts room, ensuring that parts and supplies are accurately received, stored, and distributed to support the shop's operations. This role involves maintaining inventory accuracy, organizing the parts room, assisting with parts orders, and providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments of parts and supplies.
  • Accurately label and store parts in designated locations.
  • Maintain inventory records.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder parts as needed to avoid shortages.
  • Pick and distribute parts to technicians and other shop personnel based on work orders and requests.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to resolve any discrepancies or issues with orders.
  • Keep the parts room clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Implement and maintain an efficient parts storage system to optimize space and accessibility.
  • Ensure all parts are stored in a manner that prevents damage and deterioration.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all parts transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of purchase orders and parts requisitions.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies regarding parts handling and storage.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Track battery cores to ensure they are returned to the dealer and credits have been received timely.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a parts room environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in inventory management or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in inventory management, parts room operations, or a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of automotive and heavy equipment parts is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, and working in all weather conditions.
  • Good physical stamina and dexterity.
