Full Sail Media is seeking an exceptional, talented individual to join operations in our growing company as a HP Indigo Digital Press Operator at our Baltimore location. Full Sail Media seeks driven individuals who share its passion for intuitive and quality print marketing and customer service surpassing that of our competition. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with interest and experience in printing and graphics to work and be involved with the digital production process, and work with the latest in technology.
The Digital Press Operator candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients and staff. Ability to establish client relations, listen to client goals, and maintain community rapport are a must for any applicant. The candidates must be highly organized and be able to work efficiently on multiple projects to meet tight deadlines. The position also involves frequent use of technology; additional training on high-speed production printers and copiers will be provided, but previous experience with digital production boxes and strength technology are a must.
Digital Press Operator Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Operate color Digital Press Equipment
- Keep work-in-progress thoroughly organized and produce goods using minimal waste
- Maintain a highly productive schedule to meet our customer expectations
- Work independently as well as with a Team
- Maintain strong communication with and work alongside Prepress Team to strive for 100% quality of all orders
- Monitor all processes on press to ensue effective quality control throughout run
- Maintain inventory of all necessary press supplies
- Perform preventive maintenance and trouble shoot press issues
- Keep a clean and presentable work area
- Report to management to resolve issues as they arise
- Communicate directly with Press Manufacturers technicians to resolve mechanical or hardware issues
- Perform operator maintenance and work with phone support to trouble shoot issues
- Read and understand Job Tickets for instructions and specification specific to the manufacturing of a job
- Assist in all the other areas of production as required
- Continually monitor quality of finished product to ensure quality standards are being met
- Preparing for the job run time by reviewing the job specifications and making adjustments to the equipment to provide a sample of the finished product
- Reviewing the sample form with the supervisor using equipment checklists to ensure that it meets all job specifications and quality requirements
- Refilling paper trays on equipment to keep the job running efficiently and on time
- Visually inspecting and color matching the forms to samples throughout run time to ensure that they meet job specifications and quality standards
- Adhering to all SOP standards
- Ripping files produced from static and variable data files using digital print equipment
- Digitally manipulating color calibration set-up to meet expectations for color target.
- Conduct regular and special maintenance on equipment to achieve maximum machine performance based on equipment specifications and acquired knowledge of machine operations. Record maintenance and service calls in maintenance log book as required.
- Maintains accurate record of time and materials spent on each job/project along with keeping accurate internal job sheets and recording pertinent job information.
- Work overtime as needed to meet customer expected delivery.
Indigo Digital Press Operator Required skills:
- Ability to manage multiple task simultaneously
- A high school diploma or GED
- Must have strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software
- Must be able to perform basic math including fractions and decimals
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to produce rapidly
- Must be very motivated and highly productive
- Must be able to perform physical duties of position such as assisting in moving product to departments
- Must be willing to commit long term as we are looking for team-oriented individuals
- HP Indigo certification a plus
- A working knowledge of print, design, and color management
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- At least 5 year experience on Printing Industry.
- 2+ year experience operating IBM, Kodak, Xerox iGen, Oce or HP Indigo machines
- Prior experience in a traditional offset or web-press environment
- Strong computer skills with file-to-print process
- Technically and mechanically oriented
- Printing and/or related production experience
- Color printing experience (4-color preferably)
- Understands how to achieve optimum print quality
- Good visual identification — pays attention to detail
- Dedicated — ready and willing to make an extra effort to exceed customer expectations
