Position Summary:

Norfolk Crush is a facility that processes 110k bushels of soybeans daily into soybean oil, soybean meal, and soy hull pellets. The Grain Operator will be responsible for procuring soybeans and providing risk management services to local farmers. This position will help the Director of Trading and Risk Management achieve Company goals while maintaining a strong relationship with customers, both external and internal. The Grain Operator will also help with other daily activities to deliver the best customer experience to the farmer and other commercial companies.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, organize, and implement the organization’s grain origination playbook and Risk Management guidelines.
  • Monitor originated bushels and logistics for all commodities being received to the location and effectively communicating with internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the execution of short and long-range business objectives under the direction of the CEO and Director of Trading and Risk Management.
  • Be involved in the community, attend events put on by local organizations as well as Company functions that are used to build stronger relationships in the community.
  • Comply with and follow governing trade rules and regulations (NGFA/NOPA). Work with internal partners to obtain Company goals and objectives.
  • Build a strong customer base that will help both employees and the Company, achieve KPIs and financial goals.
  • Execute supply chain management processes involving incoming feedstock, outgoing finished products, as well as processing aids and other inputs.
  • Build the Company brand through meetings, social media, and community events.
  • Onboard new customers as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree preferred.
  • One (1) to seven (7) years’ experience in Grain Origination.
  • Experience in soybean industry or like experience, with a strong understanding of grain originations, freight spreads, hedging, and risk management.
  • Ability to develop new territories to help achieve Company targets.
  • Possess a safety-first as well as an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations along with NGFA and NOPA trade rules.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with cross functional team members.
  • Ability to travel within territory as well as occasional overnight travel.
  • Knowledge of grain accounting software, Microsoft Office, Railroad billing software, among others, required.
