Detailer/Lot Valet

Summary
Cleans and refurbishes new and used vehicles, keeps the vehicles in sound working condition and helps the Sales Manager and associates as requested.
Essential Duties
- Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows and wipes down doorjambs.
- Performs light buffing on paint and vehicle headlamps.
- Vacuums interior of vehicles to remove dirt and debris.
- Cleans upholstery, rugs and other surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators and cleaning devices.
- May be requested to degrease the engine and engine compartment only on a case by case basis when deemed advisable.
- Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery and poor mechanical operation.
- Restores vehicle appearance using touch-up paint, dyes and other appropriate materials.
- Maintains showroom and stock vehicles in a clean and presentable manner.
- Positions new and used vehicles on the lot to maximize space and align in a uniform and presentable manner.
- Repairs or replaces defective or missing small parts. May install accessories that require minimal technical expertise.
- Ensures vehicles have adequate fuel for demonstration purposes.
- Places buyer guides in all used vehicles. Affixes company logo and license plate placards on all vehicles.
- Ensures all secondary containers used in the cleaning process are labeled as to the contents per the dealerships safety policy.
- Operates all tools and machinery in a safe manner and keeps the work area clean and free of hazards.
- Facilitates the exchange of dealer traded vehicles and ensures no preexisting damage is present prior to accepting the exchange.
- May shuttle customers to and from dealership on a limited basis.
- Maintains car wash system and replaces filters on a scheduled basis,
- Other tasks as assigned

Education and/or Experience
- No prior experience or training
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must be able to recognize the difference between clean and not clean.
- Must have spacial awareness of the distance between vehicles and other objects (i.e., don't wreck the vehicles, run over customers, etc.).
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Licenses, Background
- Valid Driver's License, DMV records will be required. A complete background check will be completed.
Physical Demands
- Light to moderate physical activity will be required to perform the essential duties.
