About US: VDL Industries Gainesville LLC is company number 99 in the VDL Groep and the first manufacturing facility in the U.S. Operations are from a state-of-the-art, 150,000 square foot facility located in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The VDL Industries facility consists of the following work centers: laser cutting, metal forming, welding (MIG/TIG), electronic assembly/general assembly, sawing, drilling, shipping, storage opportunities, and Quality Control. VDL Industries utilizes a dedicated area for stainless steel welding and assembly operations.

 

Job Summary: A TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welder is responsible for using TIG welding process to join mental components together. The TIG welder should be precise and versatile and know the welding technique commonly used in manufacturing.


Education


  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • 5+ years’ experience welding and fabricating preferred.
  • Experience with TIG welding required
  • TIG welding certification preferred


Job requirements but not limited to:


  • Welding Techniques: A solid understanding of TIG welding techniques is crucial. This includes proper electrode manipulation, heat control, filler metal application, and torch positioning.


  • Material Knowledge: Familiarity with different types of metals, such as stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium, is necessary. Each metal requires specific welding settings and techniques to achieve optimal results.


  • Blueprint Reading: The ability to interpret and understand welding blueprints is essential to ensure accurate welding joint preparation and alignment.


  • Welding Safety: Comprehensive knowledge of welding safety protocols is imperative. This includes understanding proper ventilation, wearing protective equipment, and following safety guidelines to prevent accidents and protect oneself from hazardous fumes and radiation.


  • Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating TIG welding equipment, such as the welding machine, torch, foot pedal, and gas regulators, is vital. Understanding how to set up, adjust, and maintain the equipment ensures efficient and effective welding.


  • Quality Control: A keen eye for detail and the ability to perform quality checks on completed welds is essential. This includes inspecting welds for defects, such as porosity, cracks, and incomplete penetration, and implementing corrective measures when necessary.


  • Problem-Solving: TIG welders should possess strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that may arise during the welding process. This involves identifying, notifying team lead and resolving problems related to welding equipment, weld joint fit-up, or material compatibility.


  • Continuous Learning: Staying updated with the latest welding techniques, equipment advancements, and industry standards is crucial. TIG welders should have a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and practices to enhance their skills.
