Summary:

X-ray Techs provide medical images to physicians and providers to assist in making diagnoses. Images from the X-ray machine can also help in choosing a treatment plan for an injury or illness and evaluate the success of treatment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate X-ray equipment to get images of different areas of the body. Position patients; and take X-rays of patients' chest, extremities, or other parts of the body as requested by providers.
  • Adjust X-ray machines as needed to ensure clear and accurate imaging. Checks X-rays for clarity of image, and retakes X-rays when needed.
  • Ensure the patient is properly positioned to attain high quality images and protect them from radiation.
  • Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological exams.
  • Adjusts and sets radiographic controls, such as kilovoltage and milliamperage, to prescribed specifications for proper timing of exposure; regulates the length and intensity of film exposure.
  • Maintains required records such as patient records, daily logbooks, and monthly reports.
  • Maintains quantity and quality control checks to assure the X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies.
  • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining repairs needed to equipment.
  • obtain written consent prior to the exam including ruling out pregnancy in female patients and that the images have to be sent to Radiology overread
  • Protects patients and other personnel from radiation hazards.
  • Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and equipment.

Additional medical assistant responsibilities may be assigned as needed:

  • Greets and rooms patients including taking all vitals such as height, weight, temp, pulse, respiratory, and/or pulse oximetry.
  • Completes intake of patients in the room including reviewing med history, social history, medication lists and chief complaint.
  • Responsible for injections, phlebotomy, setting up and assisting with procedures, nebulizers, and EKGs.
  • Conducts drug and alcohol testing according to Department of Transportation and company guidelines.
  • Maintaining a healthy working environment which may include occasional cleaning duties.
  • Performs any other duties that assist in the operations of the clinic.
Requirements:

Education/Experience:

Meet all state-specific and federal requirements to perform portable x-rays, including one or more of the following:

  • Limited Scope X-ray Operator State x-ray license
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist RT
  • BLS Certification

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Math Ability:

Ability to calculate medication dosing, height/weight conversions, figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher, and Google Suite.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to blood borne pathogens.
  • The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate.

Salary is commensurate with experience and education: Hourly range is $28.00- $32,00 (negotiable based on experience).

Clinic hours are 8 am to 7 pm Monday - Saturday and 8 am to 6 pm on Sundays. Work week is 40 hours.

Payroll is weekly.

Full suite of employee benefits are available on the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. This includes medical, dental, vision, life, short and long term disability, accident and critical illness policies.
