We are looking for a Tool & Die Maker A for 1st Shift.

1st Shift 6:30AM-2:30PM

Position Summary

A Tool and Die Maker capable of making tooling, gauges, fixtures, parts and related items for use in the manufacturing of P/M components.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Essential Function satisfactorily. The items listed below are representative of these essential functions for this role and may not be a comprehensive list of duties, responsibilities, or expectations.

  1. Works to engineering math models, blueprints, sketches, existing parts, and other data to produce new tooling, gauges, fixtures, parts, machine components, and assemblies to specifications to be used in production operations.
  2. Evaluates work plans to maximize accuracy and efficiency while minimizing setup time and overall labor. Provides cost and time estimates to engineers and tool control.
  3. Effectively sets up and operates all tool room machines. Uses both manual and CNC controlled equipment.
  4. Performs heat treating operations per engineering specifications and according to established practices to produce desired performance.
  5. Performs bench work including stone and polish, fitting, and other finishing operations.
  6. Performs inspections using all available metrology for dimensional verification and documents inspection data according to established procedures.
  7. Works closely with DSB Engineering and Tool Control to control drawing changes, release levels, and to make updates.
  8. Participates in Tooling Damage Reviews with Tooling Engineers, Die Setters, and Maintenance. Participates in improvement initiatives involving tooling, gauges, and related equipment.
  9. Uses established methods and software for cost reporting and workload management.
  10. Performs all functions according to established DSB Quality Systems and related control plans, tool designs, and work instructions.
  11. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.
  12. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of DSB Technologies which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  13. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

Technical Degree or equivalent experience in Tool and Die Making preferred.

Strong working knowledge of carbide, tool steel, alloy steel, brass, bronze, aluminum, and various plastics as it relates to machining and fabricating processes. Able to perform and evaluate applicable heat treating and coating processes required.

Working knowledge and understanding of P/M tooling, secondary work holding, and production gauging methods required.

Working knowledge of 3D modeling and related programming techniques.

Skills

Proficiency in operating tool room equipment and related tooling and techniques for turning, milling, grinding, and EDM along with all associated equipment such as sine plates, grinding fixtures required.

Proficiency in CNC programming.

Proficiency in stone and polish bench work equipment, techniques, and related evaluation required.

Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints that include details, assemblies, GDT, limits and fits, gauge methods and easily translates between inch and metric units required.
