PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Swiss Lathe Operator will set-up, program, and run multiple production machines.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Sets up production machines following prints and specifications. Assigned machines may include lathes, grinders, mills, and similar equipment.

2. Chooses, aligns, and securely attaches holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and other materials on machines.

3. Applies knowledge of mathematics and instruments to calculate dimensions and tolerances.

4. Identifies malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjusts controls of machine to correct errors.

5. Inspects and measures completed production units to identify defects caused by machine setup.

6. Starts or restarts equipment after power outages or interruptions.

7. Maintains a safe and orderly production area.

8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

9. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.

2. Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.

3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

2. Associate’s degree in Manufacturing/Technical Programming; OR completion of a full apprenticeship program; OR successful completion of suitable company training required.

3. At least one year of experience as a fully qualifies machinist required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Physical ability to operate and repair machines.

2. Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and stretching.

3. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
