Potomac Hospitality Group is looking to hire cafe cooks. Our School Cafe Team will prepare delicious meals for the young scholars we serve daily. Cooks will prepare, and serve meals to students. An experienced Cook should be knowledgeable about full-service catering and have excellent execution, food preparation, and cooking skills. They should be detail-oriented, and they should be able to provide and maintain high-quality standards and procedures in the preparation and serving of all food. They will need the stamina to work in a fast-paced kitchen. They also need to be able to lift heavy objects and collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to meet client and executive expectations. Assist staff, cooks, and chefs as needed. Report any serious incidents to upper management.
Please note: This is a full-time position. Some weekend and holiday shifts are required. Essential Functions:
● Responsible for the execution of the school meal program and related to food service.
● Must be able to clear background checks and security clearance.
● Ensure the consistent operation of the food production areas within the facilities.
● Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes,
desserts, appetizers, and catering orders.
● Ensures that the product quality, freshness, and presentation meet the appropriate company
standards and specifications.
● Maintain and exhibit a solid food knowledge and understanding of all food products– and is
able to skillfully apply culinary and cooking techniques.
● Prepare basic components of each dish on our menu using our provided recipes.
● Assist in controlling food and labor cost.
● Trains and supervises staff members in the proper preparation of menu items and the
operation of different equipment.
● Supervise cooks and staff, and oversees the preparation, portioning, garnishing, and storage
of food through organization and delegation.
● Organize, submit, and distribute necessary information and paperwork to staff members.
● Ensure that the kitchen, supplies, utensils, equipment, all food preparation areas, and all
food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning standards.
● Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and
regulations.
● Leads kitchen staff in the absence of a supervisor.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:
3 years of experience in full-service catering
High school diploma or GED is preferred, but not required. Supervisory experience is preferred, but not required. Must be able to pass a Level II background check
