The Sales Engineer serves as a liaison in the sales process when complex and technical equipment or services are involved. Facilitating the process of engineering customer needs into product Sales Orders through feasibility analyses, design engineering, project management, and customer service.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Consults with existing and potential clients to assess and understand equipment needs and systems requirements.
  • Drafts or assists with the drafting of presentations and other documentation and materials that explain products and services to customers.
  • Provides expertise and support to internal HyTech Spring & Machine teams to communicate products, services, and client needs.
  • Ensures that customer needs are met, which may include product modifications.
  • Proposes improved materials or products to customers and explains benefits of changes.
  • Provides support to customers and resolves problems, with quality team at HyTech Spring & Machine.
  • Prepares product orders and schedules deliveries, as needed.
  • Assists with research and development of new products.
  • Present new business opportunity for evaluation of new products to the team for review.
  • Assist Production Control with analysis for reconciliation of final job costing documentation and adjustment to the Standard Database.
  • Collaborate with other Sales Engineers, Quality, Production, Production Control, etc. during the sales process, feasibility, engineering, set-up, capability studies, prototyping and new product development to insure cost, productivity, quality, and customer goals are met.
  • Sales/Customer Service activities as directed by Sales Manager including sales calls to existing customers to procure new sales, follow-up calls to support current accounts, receive customer inquiry calls, and perform engineering contract review functions.
  • Prepare Customer quotation documentation.
  • Analyze, review and report on customer forecasts for budgeting purposes including comparison to actual results.
  • Identify and pursue new prospect and opportunities within key target markets.
  • Report on metrics as defined by the Sales Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills with a proven ability to explain technical products to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to apply engineering, technology, or other related principles to product sales.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or field related to products and services being sold preferred.
  • Two to four years of related product or sales experience required.
  • Other certifications, training or requirements as may arise for this position as communicated by management.
  • Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.
  • May be required to communicate, discern, convey, or exchange information with other teammates.
  • Must be able to wear all personal protective equipment at all times during work hours as required by company safety rules.
