The Career Coach for Out-of-school Youths and Young adults, is responsible for assessing young adult customers and developing customized job-readiness plans based on customer career and interest levels including those who are starting their careers, transitioning into new careers, or advancing their careers. The Career Coach assesses barriers to training and employment and develops solutions for overcoming those barriers. The Career Coach connects customers to training and employment opportunities that lead to financial self-sufficiency. The Career Coach tracks and reports customer progress through data management systems.


Key Functions/Responsibilities

• Guide jobseekers through the preparation of individual employment plans (IEP) based on their specific career and training goals.

• Administer various career interest and aptitude assessments to determine occupational interests and career paths.

• Provide career coaching and intensive case management services to Youth and Young Adult clients while implementing their individual employment plan.

• Conduct orientations for job seekers to provide an overview of available services, facilitate workshops, job clubs and other group presentations.

• Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks, build a professional one-on-one working relationship with participants to aid in eliminating challenges that are hindrances to obtaining and retaining employment.

• Ensure participants follow through with planned activities as outlined in contract with funding agency.

• Share labor market information with job seekers to enable informed decisions on labor trends and economic conditions.

• Collaborate with internal and external partners to organize and support recruitment activities including, but not limited to job fairs and related outreach activities.

• Identify potential job matches for job seeker that aligns with their identified goals and qualifications.

• Assist customers in the usage of self-service resources.

• Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered client assuring that each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements with all policies and procedures.

• Attend conferences, staff meetings, and AAWDC functions, as assigned.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education/Experiences/Abilities

• AA degree in human resources, human services, education, social services, public administration, or related field

• Two or more years working with youth or adults in workforce, case management, human services, or social services.

• Minimum of two years of recruitment/employment service experience to include client assessment is required.

• Proficiency in Spanish (preferred).


Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of and experience in compliance with organizational policies, established procedures, regulatory requirements, and federal and state laws.

• Knowledge of career counseling theories and techniques, including the impact of cultural values and unique needs of a diverse population, must be demonstrable.

• Experience in preparing and conducting client workshops.

• Excellent organizational skills to include the ability to prioritize work and manage deadlines successfully.

• Commitment to outstanding service delivery, teamwork and client outcomes must be verifiable through references.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, to include Excel and Word.
