Job Summary:

Sanford Federal, Inc is looking to hire an American sign language interpreter to provide ASL interpretation services in-person for Deaf or Hard of Hearing applicants on an as-needed basis for the USCIS Dallas Field Offices.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess Certifications of educational background in Deaf and Hard of Hearing community (in-person, V-Teleconference, Videophone (relay services) using government acronyms and familiar with government terminology.
  • Must have at least 1-year work experience in performing sign language services in a public or private industry setting.
  • Must have the ability to interpret personal sessions of a sensitive nature.
  • Must have the ability to sign to voice and voice to sign when a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person's speech is not easily understood.
  • Must have the ability to imitate nuances, tone information, inflection, and the spirit of the speaker's voice to enable the Deaf or Hard of Hearing person to fully receive messages.
  • Must have the ability to select, highlight, and abstract with context when dealing with complicated concepts, idioms, etc.
  • Must adhere to confidentiality requirements.
  • Must work collaboratively and professionally with other interpreters during assignments.
  • Must have a QAST rating of 4 or 5 to ensure a high level of capability.

Duties:

Provide ASL interpretation services upon request for the naturalization ceremonies, outreaches, and naturalization and adjustment interviews at the USCIS Dallas Field Offices.
