Department: Machining

Position Summary: A Machinist at Idaho Steel Products, Inc. must have the ability to program NC equipment (Fanuc Siemens Heidenhien controls) with a background in CNC preferred.  Specialized machining training such as an Associate Degree or equal experienced based proficiency is required.  They must be able to read blueprints accurately and work with close tolerances to create correct and working parts. A Machinist at Idaho Steel produces quality parts and equipment for the food processing industry and the general public.  They also have the ability to repair said equipment and working components. The person is required to work well with others. Strong work ethics, integrity, and a willingness to learn and grow within the company are also an important part of employment with Idaho Steel Products.


Essential functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions


  • Understand the operating programs of NC and CNC machines - program and set up for the different operations in the job.
  •  Read from blueprints - interpret and build from them.
  • Ability to solve and correct problems that might arise with machine and drawings.
  • Proficiency with reading micrometers (inside and outside), using calipers and tape measures.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • A proficient understanding of the different materials that we work with and clean-up of such materials.
  • Ability to work well with other employees and the public.
  • Understand the safety policies of the shop, follow the shop safety practices - *Understand the safety factors of turning equipment*.


Physical Demands:


  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for a large percentage of the work day.  The job may also require a lot of kneeling and bending.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (safety glasses, work boots, gloves, etc.).
