WE'RE HIRING

Operated by Methodist Home for Children in partnership with the Department of Public Safety, our NEW Juvenile Crisis and Assessment Center in Kinston, NC provides a comprehensive juvenile assessment in a residential setting with the goal of matching the youth to the most appropriate services in his or her community. The Center serves Level II offenders between the ages of 10 and 17. We're seeking a part-time Cook.

The Cook will assist in planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the children and staff of the Assessment Center, and maintain a healthy kitchen environment.

Part-time Schedule: Saturday - Sunday, 7a-4p

Duties:

  • Prepare nutritious meals for the Assessment Center facility.
  • Have knowledge of basic nutrition requirements, which meet the USDA requirements for children.
  • Have knowledge of meal patterns required by the North Carolina Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  • Assist in developing weekly menus that meet the requirements mentioned above.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation required by the N.C. Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining food supplies and other related items.
  • Be aware of cultural diversity within the centers and incorporate that same diversity in menu planning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualified candidates will be at least 21 years old and have a minimum of a High School Education. At least one (1) year experience in food preparation for large groups and working under specific dietary guidelines is ideal. Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record. Must successfully complete all phases of pre-service and on-going training, including, but not limited to, physical restraint training, First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions, and medication administration.
