The Vinyl Seamstress is responsible for cutting, sewing, and assembling vinyl materials to create or repair products such as upholstery, fashion items, and accessories. This role requires precision, creativity, and an understanding of the unique properties of vinyl fabric to produce high-quality items that meet both aesthetic and functional standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cutting and Sewing:

    • Measure, cut, and sew vinyl fabric according to patterns, designs, or customer specifications.
    • Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines and other tools specialized for working with vinyl.
  • Assembly and Construction:

    • Assemble vinyl pieces into finished products such as seat covers, bags, and protective covers.
    • Ensure seams are strong, durable, and meet the company’s quality standards.
  • Customization:

    • Customize vinyl items as per client specifications, including adding logos, embroidery, or other decorative elements.
    • Work on special projects that require creative problem-solving and unique construction techniques.
  • Repair and Alterations:

    • Perform repairs on vinyl items, such as re-stitching seams, patching tears, and replacing damaged sections.
    • Adjust and alter existing items to better fit or function as required by customers.
  • Quality Control:

    • Inspect all finished products to ensure they meet quality standards for durability, appearance, and functionality.
    • Make any necessary adjustments or corrections to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Material Handling:

    • Select and handle different types of vinyl, understanding their properties and best uses.
    • Maintain inventory of vinyl materials, ensuring adequate supply for upcoming projects.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with designers, production staff, and clients to understand project requirements and deliver on expectations.
    • Provide input on design and construction methods to optimize production efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications:
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with vinyl or similar materials.
    • Proficiency in using industrial sewing machines and other related tools.
  • Skills:

    • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
    • Ability to read and interpret patterns and design specifications.
    • Knowledge of different types of vinyl and their applications.
    • Creativity and problem-solving skills for custom and complex projects.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to work with heavy and thick materials.
    • Manual dexterity and good hand strength for handling vinyl fabric.
    • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification or formal training in sewing or upholstery.
  • Experience in automotive, marine, or furniture upholstery.
  • Familiarity with advanced sewing techniques, such as topstitching, piping, or quilting.
