Traveling Belt Technician

Overview:

Belt Power LLC is a full service distributor and fabricator specializing in the fulfillment of conveyor system requirements for the processing, manufacturing, and material handling industry. Our product line ranges from all types of conveyor belting, conveying equipment and components, belting accessories, hose and fitting products, plastics, gasket, and power transmission products.

Job Summary:

As a Traveling Belt Technician at Belt Power, LLC, you will perform a variety of duties to install customized heavy-duty belts and rubber components at customer sites.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties to fabricate, install and repair conveyor belting and systems
  • Be available to travel to Belt Power field installations at customer sites for extended periods of time, ranging from a few days to months at a time
  • Install and vulcanize lightweight and heavyweight conveyor belting
  • Build/repair belts and conveyor belt components
  • Maintain work area and install trucks in a neat and orderly condition
  • Receive and verify incoming parts, materials, and supplies; maintain stock area, follows sales orders
  • Pick up and deliver orders, stock, and supplies
  • Work in a manner that ensures the safety of everyone involved. Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations
  • Detect and report defective equipment, material and any improper operations or unusual conditions
  • Represent Belt Power in a professional manner at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Be available to travel for extended periods of time
  • 1+ yr. proven experience in field service work, maintenance, or other hands on work
  • Organization and prioritization skills; attention to detail
  • Strong mechanical background
  • The ability to interpret and verify precise measurements using a tape measure
  • The ability to read basic mechanical drawings
  • Basic math skills and computer skills
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Forklift License
  • Required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as ability to work at heights and tight space
  • Overtime hours and weekend work may be required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, capable of driving a large pickup truck and/or van.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
  • High school diploma or equivalent education

Desired characteristics:

  • Ability and desire to quickly learn new processes and systems
  • Maintenance, belt tech experience preferred

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in a fabrication shop environment. The noise level is moderately loud. Generally well-ventilated and well lit. Shop employees may be required to wear protective clothing. Operation of heavy equipment and strict safety regulations are required.

Physical Demands:

The Traveling Belt Technician may lift and / or move up to 75 pounds and will require manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to make adjustments and / or minor maintenance. Will use hands, arms, back, and shoulders to handle, install, position, move items, and manipulate other objects. Could be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position in a shop. Typical workdays and hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with occasional weekend work.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00 an hour
