The Dahill Group is delighted to be assisting our client, an established and well-respected Texas E&P company, in search of an outstanding Staff Accountant II.The client has a robust talented accounting team of 17 people and one of their financial accountants is retiring.

This position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial duties as well as clerical functions to support supervisors when needed.The Staff Accountant II will process daily accounting functions including general ledger posting, accounts payable, and ad hoc requests as needed.

The clients headquarters is in Longview, Texas

Duties and responsibilities

Create and record all financial transactions for multiple entities including cash receipts, miscellaneous journal entries, tax entries, A/P and financial statements for an assigned group of entities of the company.

Prepare multiple bank reconciliations.

Prepare tax work papers for multiple assigned entities annually.

Assist and review monthly Joint Bill processing. Company has a department with accountants specifically responsible for JIB and Revenue and cross over support is sometime part of the responsibilities.

Ability to adapt when needed.

Provide backup support for accounts payable, credit applications and scanning as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications include:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting required.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience with basic accounting procedures financial accounting background needed.
  • CPA not required but experience coming from the tax preparation in a CPA firm tremendously helpful.
  • Ability to multitask due to fluctuating workload.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Works well under general supervision.
  • Organized.
  • Maintains confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Experience in oil & gas accounting desired and a plus.

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Competency in MS Office
  • Quorum Accounting Software experience a plus

Salary & Benefits

Target Base Salary:$65,000 to $75,000

Target Bonus:7% of base salary

Work Schedule:2 days remote/3 days in office OR remote within the state of Texas ONLY with 3 weeks remote and 1 week in office.(Employee paid for stay in Longview for that 1 week per month).

Annual Profit Share the company makes an annual contribution to employees 401ks with the amount distributed cap by IRS guidelines and determined for each employee based on their 401K contribution for the year.Note:If for some reason the company is not profitable in a given year, there will not be a profit share for that year.

Pension Plan after 1 year of service, client will set up and begin making contributions to employees pension.
