Definition
The CNC Programmer performs a diverse variety of tasks, including designing fixturing for CNC Machining Centers, Robot Welding cells, and Machine-Tending Robots. You will be responsible for programming our CNC VMC’s and HMC’s for our production facility, as well as creating and writing process instructions and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for these manufacturing processes. Training our production team as well as solving production issues at workstations will be part of your tasks. You will also be responsible for occasionally machining the production team’s fixtures and work holding.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Designing and implementing CNC Machining Center work holding fixtures
- Programming CNC Machining Centers
- Designing and implementing production process
- Trouble shooting and refining current Machining Center production processes.
- Writing / creating workstation Standard Operating Procedures
Job Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or related field is optional.
A certificate in Machine Tool Technology or related field is required.
Experience:
- 4-6 years prior experience programming CNC Vertical and Horizontal Machining Centers is required.
Skills
- Must know Solid Works CAD Software
- Must know how to use MasterCAM software
- Organization skills, especially data entry, filing research preparation, and meeting deadlines
- Creative, self-motivating individual with the ability to take a project from inception to completion
- Must know how to handwrite G and M Codes for a CNC, as well as edit them at the controller.
- Understand and edit Fanuc Macro-B programming.
- Must know how to set-up work and tool offsets for a machining process.
- Must know how to use computers including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Must know how to use MasterCAM software
- Must be able to understand Key words and phrases in English
Must be able to use standard machining measuring tools. (Tape measures, Squares and surface tools, calipers, micrometers, Gage blocks, Angular Measurement devices, sign bars, Inside-height-and depth measuring devices, etc.)
