JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

Wash and properly store all cooking utensils, china, flatware, and glassware. Maintain the highest professional sanitation standards. Maintain all areas of the kitchen in a clean and tidy manner. Assist Chef team with any other tasks required.

This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and a competitive hourly rate.

Compensation: $20 per hour


Essential Job Functions: *including but not limited to*

  • Wash all dishes/wares in dishwashing machine or by hand according to the highest sanitation standards.
  • Polish all silverware, platters and chafing dishes; handle all china and glassware carefully to minimize breakage.
  • Wash and polish all stainless steel in the kitchen including shelves, dish cabinets, ice machines, coffee area, refrigerators, walk-in, etc.
  • Wash and clean receiving, trash, and other kitchen-related areas
  • Store all dishes and wares in proper areas.
  • Clean dish machine and dish area after each meal period
  • Perform other tasks such as assisting in food preparation, storing foods after delivery and cleaning coolers, freezers and storerooms.
  • Maintain inventories of soap, chemicals and paper towels, transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
  • Continuously inspect floors in kitchen areas to assure they remain clean, dry and clear of debris
  • Assist in completing weekly kitchen cleaning and maintenance.
  • Clean and safely store all brooms, mops and other cleaning equipment in proper places.
  • Use all chemical cleaning supplies in a safe and careful manner.
  • Help food servers by prioritizing the washing of special service items/dishes.
  • Understand and consistently follow proper sanitation practices including those for personal hygiene.
  • Collect trash from kitchen areas, empty garbage cans, wash and re-line with new bags.
  • Break down boxes, crates and remove debris.
  • Examine garbage for misplaced silverware, dishes, glassware and other reusable items.
  • Perform other appropriate tasks as assigned by Chefs.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

Food Handlers certification required. Prior experience as a dishwasher in a restaurant and/or food service environment preferred. Some professional physical labor experience and a strong work ethic are required.

Physical Demands:

This position requires standing, walking, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, holding/carrying, twisting/turning, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders, sitting. Employee will have the ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds on a consistent basis. Must be able to stand and work in a hot, humid, and sometime loud environment for long periods of time. Must be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen environment, while maintaining accuracy.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate, but sometimes loud, characteristic of fine dining restaurants or country club kitchens. The work environment is comparable to other food service industries and restaurant environments but may include atypical or extraordinary conditions.
