The Intrepid Museum is seeking a VP, Information Technology (IT) with a proven record of setting and achieving goals and objectives, establishing priorities, hands-on management of day-to-day operations, and mentoring the IT team. The VP of IT will be responsible for creating a system of technology, processes and procedures, and team collaboration to foster a strong culture of user community support and transparency. They will be responsible to drive IT systems security and data protection strategy, including ensuring compliance with policies, system monitoring and data integrity and preservation. The VP of IT reports to the CFAO and is accountable for the effective and efficient management of the department and working with all departments on IT related elements of museum-wide goals and objectives.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide strong leadership and technical direction for both strategic initiatives and day-to-day activities.

• Support and manage infrastructure, applications, user service management, security, and data protection.

• Demonstrate significant expertise in hands-on IT security, that encompasses application security, risk management, vulnerability management, incident response, and data security.

• Ensure all computer systems, desktop/laptop computers and network facilities are maintained with proper software updates, patches and fixes required by the IT vendors to maintain support.

• Document and maintain all IT network diagrams, processes and procedures so that documentation is current for problem solving, audit compliance, training and incident response.

• Ensure all system backups and restoration procedures are maintained and tested to ensure 100 percent data preservation and recoverability.

• Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment through relevant training to maintain and enhance IT team’s skill sets for their specific jobs.

• Ensure that the Museum’s events, programs, educational classes, and fund-raising events are fully staffed with trained IT technicians for audio visual and IT facilities.

• Develop and provide system/network availability reports and metrics for senior management to ensure the IT department is meeting and exceeding its SLA agreements for the Museum’s business units.

• Be a positive change agent in the department and across the museum when warranted.

• Available to work weekends, nights and holidays as required.


The ideal candidates must have:

• 4-year degree in Information Technology or a related field.

• Minimum of 7 -10 years of management experience in a fast-paced IT environment.

• Experience managing high volume service desk (scheduling, ticketing, maintain SLAs, reporting).

• Excellent technical knowledge of technology environments: infrastructure (on premises and cloud based), data base architecture, systems integration, applications, communications, and audio visual.

• Proficiency in Information Security principles across network infrastructures, identity management, operating systems, and data preservation.

• Demonstrable experience of strategic and tactical decision-making that reflects good judgment, creative problem-solving skills and resiliency.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate IT and security concepts to both technical staff and non-technical staff at all levels.

• Solid project management skills and proven track record of working across departments and delivering projects on time.
