Job Summary:

The Maintenance Team Leader will manage a team of technicians ensuring the timely repair of equipment in such a manner as to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The Maintenance Team Leader will be an effective communicator - Promoting Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery of objectives as set forth by the Group Leader and management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Checks on status of machine breakdown at 1 hour of downtime
  2. Ensures that the whiteboard is up-to-date at the firm hours of downtime of the specific department and the timeline has been started; Sends out updates on email and Microsoft Teams until breakdown has been completed
  3. Provides daily reviews of breakdowns in Emaint and makes necessary corrections; Provides guidance to team members on breakdowns
  4. Ensures that if a Production Engineer is needed, they are contacted in a timely manner
  5. Completes assigned MSR's from a breakdown including reviewing timelines and adds all countermeasures to follow-up sheet from MSR
  6. Schedules team members to rebuild parts from breakdown; Records breakdown calls on log sheet and assigns team member to a breakdown
  7. Prioritize breakdowns according to the machines effect to production. eg) Bottleneck machines
  8. Checks KY sheet for team member on a breakdown, including submit parts request for out of stock or non-stocked part, enforce breakdown patrol when there are no breakdowns and download breakdown timelines to network
  9. PM shift - Ensures all preventative maintenance (PM) parts have been received for the month, creates priority schedules for backlogged PMs and creates, updates, and posts weekend/shutdown schedules for PM activity
  10. Kaizan / Follow-up - Input and rank all KZN and follow-ups to follow-up sheet; create, update weekend/shutdown schedules for required activity based on priority and submit parts requests for out of stocks
  11. Training - Ensures that each team member attends their scheduled trainings, along with provides the correct training plan and materials as required; responsible for completing each team member skill evaluation and that daily 4S sign off sheet is up to date; Ensures all SOP's, 1-point lessons and troubleshooting guides are completed in a timely manner
  12. Budget - Reviews, approves and edits timecards in ETIME; Submits request to the support group on all obsolete and "zero parts on hand"
  13. Reports/Documents - Responsible for creating/reviewing assigned MSR Weekly I-Mark Audits, weekly safety audits, maintenance awareness reports when necessary and monthly updated action plan; Collects EOS for team members, fills out GEMBA sheet, discusses with previous shift team leader to get any turnover or pass downs, checks emails for any information that needs to be shared with team members, inspects shop's 4S condition and make the previous shift aware of any issues and ensures that team members have and are wearing the proper PPE at all times
  14. Meetings - manages pre shift meeting with team members, runs daily morning meeting, MSR and cross-functional review (when group leader is absent), KY Training and pre and post shutdown meeting

Accountabilities:

  1. Track and identify activity to ensure departmental KPI's are met
  2. Promote and ensure all departmental Safety Policy are followed
  3. Ensure all resources are provided to maintenance team members as required

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

  1. Associates degree in a related field and 5+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience in a fast paced, heavy industrial environment
  2. Experience in a fast paced, heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  3. Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals and blueprints
  4. Demonstrated ability to analyze failures and implement effective corrective solutions
  5. Effective communication skills to influence all levels of personnel and to create change
  6. Possesses strong and consistent leadership ability to influence safety practices and initiatives
  7. Active Listening - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
