GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for operational functions of the entire kitchen to include restaurant, banquet department, art plaza and off-site functions. Assist Chef team to ensure that all banquet event orders are planned, prepared, and executed according to standard. Assist Sous Chef to oversee and ensure that all dishes are planned, prepared and executed according to standard in Collections Café and Art Plaza. Will assist Chef team with operational duties such as opening or closing restaurant and/or banquet department, ordering, inventory, and menu planning.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee quality and consistency of food in all aspects of the kitchen. • Supervise and coordinate activities of food preparation and execution in all aspects of the kitchen.
  • Lead team members, under the guidance of the Chef team, to meet the standards set by Chef team in all aspects of the kitchen. • Communicate with Chef team through various methods including telephone, email and writing to notify of concerns or issues to be addressed.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure standards set forth by the Chef team are followed. • Train team members on proper preparation, plating, execution or cleanliness of food and/or kitchen and notify Chef team if team members are not meeting expectations.
  • Arrange or re-arrange duties and rosters as necessary to ensure that tasks are correctly completed in a timely manner.
  • May meet with professional staff, management, customers, or client group in a private manner.
  • Meet production timing standards.
  • Perform any other reasonable task requested by Chef team.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High Volume Culinary experience preferred.
  • Financial understanding of COG.
  • Management or supervisory background.
  • Prior BOH and banquet experience, FOH experience a plus.
  • Five years cooking experience in various aspects of the kitchen.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Able to read and comprehend instructions given in English.
  • Able to take direction and effectively communicate to others.
  • Excellent organization skills and detail oriented.
  • Able to work in a team environment and promote teamwork.
  • Responsible, recognized for professionalism, being flexible and quick thinking.
  • Previous experience in training others.
  • Owns chef’s tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Current and valid King County Food Handlers Permit.
  • Able to lift 20 pounds, 10 pounds over head.
  • Able to stand for entire shift with periodic breaks and fully extend arms over head.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Job requires a valid food handler’s card within 14 days of employment.

Full Time, Hourly Position

Hourly Rate: $27.16 to $27.16
