CCM’s wholly-owned affiliate, CCM Tax & Trust Administration, provides tax return preparation services in a structure unlike a traditional CPA firm. Our tax professionals work collaboratively with colleagues of varied expertise, within a defined range of core hours. While increases in workload will naturally occur during peak tax season, our tax professionals experience a more balanced, proactive work environment—providing tax planning for CCM clients throughout the year.

Summary

The role is designed for top-performing candidates to gain professional skills and experiences within the actual day-to-day operations of CCM’s Tax Team. Internships at CCM are structured as learning experiences that combine in-class theory with real-world applications. The expectations of this role are similar to those of an entry-level tax position within the wealth management industry.

 

Essential Functions

  • Engages in a full curriculum of rotational learning, application of scholastic experience, and application of newly acquired skills.
  • As an individual contributor, and under the direct guidance of a CCM CPA, has responsibility for the preparation of individual and trust tax returns.
  • Assists in the tax return process from start to finish including processing and mailing tax organizers, logging and tracking status changes using the tax software, scanning of tax organizers into the electronic filing database, and processing and mailing client tax returns.
  • Participates in tax training sessions to increase working knowledge of various tax preparation software, including industry-leading technology applications.
  • Effectively responds, both verbally and in written form, to tax inquiries within the office, from CCM’s clients, and to the advisory team.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by prioritizing and completing a variety of assigned tasks, including tax-related special projects.

 

Education/Experience

  • Required enrollment as a Junior or Senior in a related major field of study
  • Major focus in accounting is strongly preferred
  • Regular travel to CCM’s Bloomington, MN office is required
  • A minimum, cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven ability to work effectively on a team
  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
