GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The Men's Residential Technician ensures that the safety, rights and dignity of residents in Mid-Michigan Recovery Services Inc.’s (MMRS) residential programs are protected and maintained at all times and ensures the facility and environment are clean, safe while maintaining the therapeutic value of the program.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for understanding and strict adherence to all MMRS policies and procedures as written.
• Responsible for maintaining regular healthcare training and certifications.
• Responsible for maintaining the house and property, including ensuring individual client rooms, are safe, clean and welcoming. Conducts and documents regular
client room checks.
• Responsible for ensuring household chores are maintained in a clean, safe and healthy manner and in compliance with food handling, storage and safety
regulations set down by governing authorities.
• Supervises activities of residential clients, ensuring safety and security through monitoring and assisting in facilitating daily program schedule, documenting that
activities are completed as assigned.
• Conducts psycho-educational didactic groups aimed at enhancing the life skills of client’s in the MMRS programs as assigned. Demonstrates an understanding
of topics covered and good presentation and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of each client’s individual treatment goals and assignments and an understanding of topics covered in client’s didactic
education. Has the ability to facilitate group and individual activities, motivating clients and helping them to achieve a working understanding of skill-based
didactics. Maintaining both verbal and written documentation to ensure appropriate communication with clinicians and supervisor regarding client’s progress.
• Conducts intake interviews with new admissions, assuring they are oriented and welcomed to the program and familiar with the building, schedule and other
residents.
• Communicates with MMRS Medical Director and Residential Program Manager regarding all new admissions.
• Monitors and documents self-administration of medication, strictly following MMRS medication monitoring policies including conducting and documenting
random and regular drug screens in accordance with MMRS policies and procedures.
• Communicates and documents all medical and pharmaceutical issues to MMRS’s Medical Director immediately and client’s primary care physician as directed;
taking direction from MMRS Medical Director and Program Coordinator to ensure all medical issues are documented and addressed appropriately.
• Maintains all job-related paperwork and documentation required by agency policies and licensing requirements. This includes shift logs, progress notes, file
maintenance, phone messages, and emails.
• May assist in the purchase of groceries or supplies for the program based on a planned menu using authorized accounts as appropriate and directed.
• Attends and participates in ongoing staff development activities including participation in weekly staff meetings and all scheduled technical in-service events
and trainings to facilitate organizational excellence and professional growth.
• Promotes MMRS philosophy and mission modeling appropriate behaviors, life skills, effective communication and leadership traits personally and professionally.
Maintains professional boundaries and ethics in accordance with strict healthcare regulations and MMRS Policies.
• Interacts with staff, clients and community members demonstrating cultural competency, respect, dignity and integrity with the ability to interact effectively with a
diverse population.
• Ensures vehicles are maintained as well as ensuring appropriate record of maintenance and mileage. Provides transportation and runs errands as assigned.
• Performs other related administrative and facility care duties as assigned
• Complies with agencies conflict resolution protocols.
• Essential service health care provider. Additional stress and risk during critical situations commensurate with our license and scope of practice to protect the
health and safety of clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and valid Michigan Driver’s License. Requires safe driving record and background check.

College credit hours in social work or a related human services field is preferred with at least one year of experience in a human services field and a demonstrated knowledge of substance use disorders desired. If recovering from a substance use disorder, must have a period of demonstrated stability in recovery.
